Dr. Arvind Gupta is the Scientific Director and CEO of MITACS, a national research network which connects academia, industry and the public sector to develop cutting-edge tools for Canada’s knowledge-based economy. He also chairs the MITACS Research Management Committee, and is a member of the MITACS Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Prior to joining MITACS, Dr. Gupta helped found the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery. Dr. Gupta obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto in 1991, and is a Professor at the University of British Columbia. He is the editor of two book series on industrial mathematics and is currently the President of the 2011 International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
